Adverse food reactions, or food allergies, will cause itchy skin conditions in both dogs and cats. Beef, fish, chicken, eggs, and dairy products are some of the more common allergens to which dogs and cats will develop adverse reactions. However, anything your pet eats on a regular pet eats can cause an allergic reaction. Adding to the confusion is the number of commercially available allergy diets and myths associated with food allergies.
